This was a very big campout.  24 scouts and 9 adults from the troop attended this campout, along with many Webelos and their parents. Departure Friday night went smoothly, and upon arriving at camp we found out that we had a pavilion we could use, which came in handy when feeding the Cub Scouts and setting up our troop displays.

Camp was setup without a hitch, and everyone started thinking about how to do things when the Webelos would come the next day. The trebuchet was to be used, there were posters and a slideshow to be set up for the adults to look at, a rock wall was to be erected on the troop trailer, and an area in the pavilion was to be used for talking to the Webelo parents about our troop. We also had to plan where the tents for the Webelos were to be set up.

Of course, planning can get boring after awhile, so before going to bed, we played some quick games of capture-the-flag, and luckily no casualties were sustained.

Webelos WoodsThe next morning we all had to get up bright and early, because soon the Webelos would be coming. The rock wall was begun, the trebuchet set up, and an area was set aside for Cub Scout tents. The Webelos started to trickle in gradually, and set up for them went fantastic, the only problem being that there were many active ant piles scattered around the field, but being Boy Scouts, we managed to overcome the wild (with only a few battle wounds and stings from the ants).

Overall it seemed that the Webelos had a blast with all the activities our troop had for them, and were kept entertained, and the adults got a good overview of the troop; how it works, what we do, High Adventure activities, and other stuff only adults need to know.

Saturday night there was a campwide campfire, with skits, songs, and an inspirational story.

Takedown the next day went well, although our troop was assigned to clean the latrines, and as fun as that job is, not everyone was excited for it. Mr. Lampkin then acted as our savior; he knew efficient, and sanitary, ways to clean the bathrooms. Trailer loading was also efficient; it didn’t take too long for camp to be taken down. We then headed back home from another great campout.
