April 4-8, 2008 Camp Strake
At Camp Strake April Camporee, there were many exciting things for all scouts to do. On Friday night, after a difficult time unloading the trailer and setting up camp, due to scouts getting sidetracked, everyone finally got done and prepared for the next day. There were 15 stations for the scouts to do on Saturday. Some activities included tying various knots with rope, identifying what was wrong with a tent, snake identification, and a snake obstacle course. The theme was Snakes at Camporee.
The various patrols went up against 54 other patrols from other troops. One of our patrols won 1st place for the younger scout competition. The people in the patrol were; Grant Kern, Kevin Hill, Chris Landa, Johnny Shapiro, and Peter Adamopoulos. The older scouts were canoeing.
After a lot of fun, the scouts completed all activities and headed off to the campsite to play football and rest for a little bit. In the evening, everyone headed off to the amphitheater to recognize newly elected representatives for the Order of the Arrow.
Sunday morning everybody went to a church service with all of the other troops. The service was led by our very own William Morriss, who did a fantastic job coordinating everything. After the service we left the amphitheater to go do a service project, which was picking up litter. Later, we packed up camp and headed home. |
