September 5-7, 2008 Inks Lake State Park
At the Inks Lake campout scouts and their parents got to go on a tour around the caves. There was a walking tour, which most scouts went on, and a wild cave tour, where 3 scouts and their dads went spelunking with just a headlamp to see. 24 scouts and 9 adults went, in total. There was very good weather over the campout, and most people would like to do it again sometime, to try the wild tour.
Each patrol was challenged to plan and cook a meal or dessert using a Dutch oven. The Bulldogs won the golden spoon after some judging made by the adults. On the second day, after unloading the trailer everyone headed off to the caves to go check the place out. The walking cave tour was fine, but got repetitive after awhile. The wild tour people had a blast. Overall, the campout turned out great and everyone had a good time going through the caves. |
